Description

William Hurt stars in this sci-fi horror directed by Ken Russell. Research scientist Dr. Eddie Jessup (Hurt) begins experimenting with a sensory deprivation tank, using himself as the test subject.

Under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs, he explores altered states of consciousness and experiences a journey back through stages of human evolution which alters his biological structure. Despite the startling changes he inflicts upon himself, Jessup is determined to continue with his research and to delve deeper into his own consciousness, a decision which could cost him everything. The cast also includes Blair Brown, Bob Balaban and Charles Haid.
