About the artist

American Heavy Metal band from Savannah, Georgia. The band formed in late 2004 and early 2005, when its members were all living on the same street.

Black Tusk is mostly associated with Baroness and Kylesa for their shared hometown of Savannah and Sludge Metal sound. The band is linked to Baroness' frontman John Dyer Baizley, who created much of Black Tusk's artwork. Black Tusk's members have described their music as "Swamp Metal", a reference to the climate of Savannah in relation to the music they create.

Bassist Jonathan Athon passed away on 9 November 2014 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. In December 2014, it was announced that Corey Barhorst would take his place. In 2018, Chris 'Scary' Adams joined the band as a second guitarist. Barhorst left Black Tusk during the COVID-19 pandemic, with Derek Lynch replacing him.
