Description

Ishirô Honda directs this Japanese kaiju classic. After several small fishing boats are sunk out at sea, survivors tell stories of a gigantic monster lurking beneath the waves. When Godzilla finally surfaces, mutated by American atomic weapons tests in the Pacific Ocean and now over 50 metres tall, the monster proceeds to lay waste to Japan.

Initial attempts to destroy Godzilla fail and palaeontologist Kyohei Yamane (Takashi Shimura), his daughter Emiko (Momoko Kochi), salvage ship captain Hideto Ogata (Akira Takarada) and scientist Daisuke Serizawa (Akihiko Hirata) have one last chance to stop Godzilla before Tokyo is completely destroyed...
