About the artist

A US death metal band from Brandon, Florida that started out under the name Mantis, and formed in 1984.
Massacre early incarnation consisted of Michael Borders (bass) who along with Rick Rozz (guitar), Kam Lee (vocals), and drummer Bill Andrews co-wrote and created the material from From Beyond. Borders also appears on the compilation Tyrants of Death consisting of the bands classic demos and live recordings from the years 1985 to 1987. He was later replaced by Terry Butler.
They disbanded and re-united again several times.

In 1987, Rozz, Andrews and Butler joined Death, but in 1991 they rejoined with Rick Rozz and Massacre released their debut album From Beyond, followed by an EP a year later. After the release of the EP the band split up again.

Rozz reformed the band in 1993 and released a new album Promise in 1996. That same year, Kam Lee left the band.

Kam Lee, Terry Butler and Steve Swanson along with Sam Williams III and Curtis Beeson temporarily reunited as Massacre in 2006.
In 2008 Butler, Lee, Beeson & Williams then founded Denial Fiend with Blaine Cook replacing Lee and Rob Rampy replacing Beeson in 2008. Later that year they split up.

Butler and Rozz reformed Massacre in late 2011, with Mike Mazzonetto on drums and Ed Webb on vocals. In March 2012, the band announcing a 7" release prior to their August 2012 appearance at the Wacken Festival in Germany. Following by the Back From The Dead album in 2014.
On December 11, 2014 it was announced that bassist Terry Butler and vocalist Ed Webb left the band. As the result, Massacre disbanded.

Massacre reformed once more in 2017 under the name Massacre X, in reference to it being the band's tenth lineup.

Original drummer Bill Andrews threatened to sue the band over the use of them name, leading to them rebranding themselves as "Gods of Death", in reference to their significance in the development of death metal. They were active under that name till July 2019, as the court has official decided, that Lee is the legal rightholder.
Now under the official Massacre moniker again with the line up of Kam Lee (vocals) Rick Rozz (guitar) Michael Borders (bass) and Mike Mazzonetto (drums).
