About the artist
About the artist
The foundation of the band was discovered in 1989 when Galder/Grusom (Thomas Rune Andersen Orre) and Tjodalv (Ian Kenneth Åkesson) founded a Metallica/Slayer cover band called Requiem. By 1993 they had become a death metal band and later that year changed their style to black metal and became Old Man's Child. Excluding the band's early years, Old Man's Child has been very much a solo project of Galder, who typically used the help of session musicians on albums and tours. Despite being more occupied as guitarist in Dimmu Borgir, Galder kept Old Man's Child alive until 2009, after which the band didn't release new music.
In 2019 Galder revived Old Man's Child and in 2024 announced his departure from Dimmu Borgir to concentrate fully on his own band. In 2025 the band made its first live performances in 25 years.
