Promising to help Carol in her frustrations, he promises her an A result on the grounds that she visit him to go over the material on a one-to-one basis. Misunderstanding the situation, Carol complains to the tenure committee that John has been sexist and vulgar in his teachings which threatens his upcoming grant of tenure.
