About the artist

Perpetual Demise was formed in 1989, but the Arctic line-up was completed in 1991: Mike Antoni (guitar), Alex Krouwel (bass), Alex Dubbeldam (drums) and Armand Wijskamp (guitar and vocals). In the early 90s the band recorded two demo's in the Beaufort Recording Studio Holland with producer Han Swagerman. These were the demo's 'Massacre To Be' (1992) and 'When Fear Becomes ...' (1993). In 1993 the track 'Massacre To Be' got released on the compilation CD 'Against All Gods' (Displeased Records). In 1995 the band wrote the songs for their debut CD which was recorded in the Stable Studio in January 1996 and was released by DSFA Records in October 1996. The CD was produced by Roel Toering (Vandenberg, Vitesse, etc.). In 1997 the track 'Of Confusion and Brutality' got released on the compilation CD 'DSFA: Book Seven'. Arctic was rereleased as a 20 year reissue in 2016 by VIC Records.

Throughout the years the band did gigs with acts like Within Temptation, Threnody, Beyond Belief, Celestial Season, Altar, Gorefest, The Gathering, Pist.On, Pleurisy, Orphanage, Ancient Rites, Stentorian, Inhume, Misanthrope, Sadness, God Dethroned and Killer. Some of the highlights of the bands carreer were their performance on the campsite of the Pinkpop festival in May 1994 and their performance on the Mindview Rock'n'Metal Convention in 1997.

The band quit in 1998.
