Joan Crawford stars in this 1950s drama directed by Ranald MacDougall. Socialite Eva Phillips (Crawford) runs her mansion home with an iron fist, the strained relationship with her disfigured husband Avery (Barry Sullivan) leaving her feeling alone and unloved. When Eva's cousin Jennifer (Lucy Marlow) moves in with them, Jennifer witnesses Eva's deceitful behaviour as she attempts to prevent a marriage between her former lover and Avery's sister.
