About the artist

Raphael Gimenes’ music has been described as something between Nick Drake and Antonio Carlos Jobim, yet with an originality entirely his own. Based in Denmark since 2005, the Brazilian songwriter creates atmospheric songs in which he chases horizons and is dreamed by birds.

In 2016, he released his debut album, Raphael Gimenes & As Montanhas de Som, which was named the Best Brazilian Album of the Year by the Dutch website Written in Music and praised as a “conceptual masterpiece” by the Japanese magazine Latina.

His second album, A Tongue Full of Suns, was recorded in the Faroe Islands and co-produced by Faroese folk artist Teitur. Inspired by Nordic landscapes, the album was described as “hypnotic” by the Brazilian website 80 Minutos.

On DINAMARCA, Gimenes sings about his life in the Scandinavian country. The album was celebrated as “a masterpiece that comes along once every decade” by the Japanese website Música Terra.

On May 29, 2026, he released his fourth album, Caçador de Horizontes (Horizon Hunter), through Cantores del Mundo. Inspired by his journeys across the Andes, the album has been widely acclaimed in the Netherlands, France, Brazil, and Japan, with critics describing it as the finest work of Gimenes’ career to date.
