Description
John Schlesinger directs this adaptation of Nathaniel West's novel about the dark side of 1930s Hollywood. Young painter Tod Hackett (William Atherton) begins working in the art department for a film studio and finds himself falling for aspiring actress Faye Greener (Karen Black). As she stuggles to find work beyond that of an extra, she grows closer to accountant Homer Simpson (Donald Sutherland), appreciating the security and stability he offers.
However, as her behaviour becomes increasingly self-destructive, violence erupts at a film premiere with fatal consequences.
