Description
Toby Trackman directs this documentary which explores the role of music during the Holocaust. 99-year-old cellist Anita Lasker-Wallfisch arrived at Auschwitz as a teenager and is the only surviving member of that camp's women's orchestra. While music helped to save her life, it also risked losing all meaning for her as she was forced to perform for Josef Mengele and play as her fellow prisoners were killed.
Her recollections feature alongside testimonies from the surviving relatives of other camp musicians.
