About the artist

American soul singer and musician. Born January 23, 1951, Inkster, Michigan (USA). Started singing when he was 6 years old and made his recording debut aged just 14. Cousin of Rose Batiste. His stepfather Johnny Haygood recorded and released his music on the label. At the age of 3, his family had moved to Chicago, where his mother had then married Haygood, upon which Haygood adopted Darrow.

Fletcher charted three times as a singer and twice as a songwriter on the U.S. charts, first with The Pain Gets A Little Deeper. The song, which was co-written by Fletcher and Ted Daniels, hit #89 overall and #23 on the R&B chart. In 1970 I Think I'm Gonna Write A Song hit #47 R&B and in 1976 We've Got To Get An Understanding hit #99. It was also co-written by Fletcher, this time with Joel Webster.
